E3: Second Day; Sony

Sony came out and went straight to business. They explained why everyone needs to get their hands on a PS3, even if the price sets you back. Their presentation was fun and not preachy; no long sermon why PS3 is boss. Instead they showed us why their system is better than the competition. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves looks amazing; graphics and game play. MAG is another one that looks epic; 200+ players playing at the same time, and it looks fantastic. Sony kept nailing us with exiting content-making me look at my Wii and laughing, glad that I recently bought a PS3.

God of War 3...no comment. It's going to be monstrous, gory and fun. Assassins Creed 2 was also commanding. These are titles that no doubt I will be buying-and that says a lot. Not because I'm saying it, just because how many people looked at Nintendo games and said, "I'll be buying that for sure." Not a lot, and why? There was no games announced for the Wii. But the PS3 had a lot of games, and a lot are about to be released. The new, and still being developed, PS3 controller totally tops the Wii and the newly announced X-Box Natal. It was better, looked more fun too.

Sony had the best presentation, no doubt. They didn't have to convince people, they let their products do that easy job. I'm looking forward to buying a lot of the new PS3 games.

E3: Second Day; Nintendo

I was listening to the people in G4 talk about, or rather, guess what Nintendo might reveal. And I agreed. I agreed that last year's E3 for Nintendo was horrific, if not, a shameless action. I agreed that this year's presentation needed to be great, not good, or warmly affective, just great. I also agreed that Nintendo needed to introduce new games, not for the casual players, but for the hardcore gamers; the ones that will do anything to buy a killer Wii game. They needed to announce good-looking games, with action, big guns, etc. The result was a...shameless action, again.

Nintendo came out with this new logo, just like last time, trying to force it's fans to accept their ineptitude. And I'm guessing it won't work. "Everyone's Game" was the new logo. And it's ridiculous-a ridiculous way of saying "we don't have much, but what we have is enough." Their presentation was boring, preachy and 100% lame. They didn't announce anything spectacular, anything mind-blowing, just a few titles of games we knew were coming. New Super Mario Bros., thanks but no thanks, I finished that game when I was six. Mario Galaxy 2, okay yeah fine; I'm looking forward to it, I might buy it. And then Wii Fit plus...WTF? An add-on for the play-it-once-let-it-rot wii board? Come on!! And then there was the Wii Sports Resort, it looks like a good sequel to the fun Wii Sports, but it doesn't cut it. Real gamers, not your grannies or your supermoms and sons, want real games. Is that so hard to understand? We want games that are fun, games that come out weekly for the X-Box 360 and the PS3.

There were three games, that I remember, announced in all their sermon. The rest was boring examples of how "fun" and "family oriented" their console is, and how many more systems the Wii sells. I know the Wii is king, but their core gamers are upset. All these other people buying Wii's just because it's trendy play it once then leave it; they're not serious gamers. Nintendo's presentation was a fail. I'm not burning my Wii, yet, but I did look at it and kicked it.

E3: Fist Day; Microsoft.

I just finished watching the first segment of E3. It lasted almost two hours, and it was worth it. I wish it could be longer, but then again the level of awesomeness dropped, or waned as the minutes added up. I was exited to see a few of the familiar titles. I was really exited to see and hear Harmonix: The Beatles. It looks like it's going to be great. The guest appearances were cool, I guess; George's son and his wife, John's wife, and of course the two remaining Beatles: Paul and Ringo. The game looks great, especially the opening sequence ( I thought it was amazing, really.) I'm delighted to see that it's not only songs off the Beatles "1" record, but other classics like "Here Comes the Sun" and "I am the Walrus".
I enjoyed the Final Fantasy bit, finally...last year they kept it a secret like it was the damn Manhattan project. I never really enjoyed the F.F games just because they're too slow, for my liking. But I want to give this one a try. I liked the massive mecha they were fighting, along with the summoned Odin.
The Halo games looked great, like the previous three. I'm going to miss Master Chief, but it's a change that needed to come. It looks like this new Halo game will be more difficult, I'm guessing though, since you aren't wearing the great M.C suit. And the preview for the other Halo, Halo: Reach, looks totally amazing!! Even though these aren't really new games they still look top-notch-good going Bungie. Halo ODST, the other title, is the one that will come out first, so I'm definitely waiting for that to happen.
There were a few more titles, too. Modern Warfare 2 looked "epic". That snow scene was great, although I was a little worried that it was somewhat boring, but then it picked up and it was...a must get. Alan Wake (I think that was the name) had a different look, it really felt like reading a horror story, and I'm sure that's what the creators were going for. And it looked original and scary.
Finally, the big surprise, to me, was the first look at the no-controller games. X-Box Natal. You don't need a controller, just your body-the best controller out there. While the basic look of this new-revolutionary(?)-way of playing seemed odd, I liked it. I liked the fact that you can use your entire body to play. The pain thing is useless, but stuff like this needs useless things just to add to it. I was convinced, X-Box Natal is excellent and it left me in a curious state, hoping to test it out soon. The only bad side to "Natal", which is really a bad side, is that the only playable games (that were shown) were lame. The generic racing game or the generic soccer game doesn't make it anymore inspiring. Natal is a good concept, but come on! Can we play Halo or Gears of War in it? Or are we gonna be stuck talking to Milo all day long?
Microsoft made a giant mark, and I can't wait to test all these new goodies. It's going to be hard for Sony and Nintendo to top it.
